Hazel
Vicary's Hazel Licky Monster, call name "Hazel", is our second chocolate labrador. Labradors became my favorite dog due to their immediate training abilities.
Hazel is very attentive and obey's commands. She loves to please and was very easy to train.
She learned to shake and sit at 9 weeks old.
Known for her energy and willingness
to learn and please, she has been a very loveable
family companion for us. She's reliable
and well trained. She loves her eggs, sardines and
fruit for treats. I feed my dogs "Black Gold Premium" dog food for
high protein, but while pregnant, they get chicken broth, eggs, milk, lake perch, sardines,
salmon, jack mackral, or catfish. I mix this into a high
quality brand puppy food such as "Iams Smart Puppy".
I want my labs to have beautiful coats and get the food
they love and need. Being waterdogs, I am quite sure their ancestors used to live on lots of fish!
Hazel is a smaller lab (about 5.8lbs below AKC standard weight). However, for those who appreciate the breed but want a smaller labrador due to age or living arrangements, her size is perfect. She possesses all the great labrador qualities such as temperament and intelligence.
Hazel's coat color is a rich chocolate. On 3/19/2008 she weighed in at 49.2lbs. Her vet checkup was good and she received her annual vaccinations.
She was put on IverHart Max heartworm preventative. IverHart Max is administered once a month to prevent heartworm disease and to treat and control roundworms, hookworms and tapeworm infections in dogs.
Hazel has a great attitude and eagerness for learning! She's the oldest of our labs as she was born on July 4th, 2005.
She's very strong and fast!
She can sniff out her toys & tennis balls when you hide them. Hazel gets very excited when it comes to playtime!
Chocolate labs are beautiful dogs and so far, in my opinion they've been the most eager to learn and a bit protective as well.
As a woman, I like that in a dog.
Let me remind you that Hazel is not agressive at all and allows our children to lay on her. Labradors are not agressive dogs and are not guard dogs by any means.
Our goal for Hazel this year is to train her to hunt for material things.
Hazel's genetics are "bbEe". She is a chocolate lab (bb) that carries the yellow gene (Ee).
